Orphanage

Orphanage

The Toribia Foundation for Children supports the Daughters of the King orphanage in Tiquipaya, Cochabamba, Bolivia. The orphanage was founded in 2015, with local board oversight, and has helped over 30 girls to date.  The recently purchased permanent home has space for 12 girls and is constructing a bakery at the site of the home to generate revenue and teach the girls life skills through their small business.  The Toribia Foundation fundraising in the USA will support this effort and with your help, will also raise funds to construct a boy's orphanage on the same property (or close by). Orphaned siblings, already in a precarious position, should not be at risk of separation and lost contact. Your support can help to make the construction of permanent boy's & girls's orphanages possible.

Daughters of the King Mission Statement: Daughters of the King Orphanage provides a warm and loving family environment where girls can grow knowing they are valued and loved by God.  A home were they heal emotionally, have all of their basic needs met, grow in strong values, receive a good education and develop their talents and abilities.

Background on Bolivia: Bolivia is one of the poorest nations in South America, with close to 60% living in conditions of poverty.  This is one of the contributors to the large number of children living in institutions.  Cochabamba, the 3rd largest department in Bolivia has around 90 institutions for children with a little over 4,000 children.  These government run homes over the past few years have become extremely over-crowded. There is a pressing need for loving homes for these precious little ones that have been abandoned.

About

About Us

Who we are

Board members Ricardo, Henry, Vania, and Maurice grew up together as "cousins" in the Chicago area who would often visit Cochabamba, Bolivia to visit family. Now as adults, along with our Bolivian-American community of family & friends, we find ourselves inspired to help the children of Bolivia.  The creation of the Toribia Foundation for Children is turning that inspiration into action.

The Toribia Foundation for Children is a Non Profit Public Benefit Corporation under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code per Internal Revenue Service.  EIN: 83-1714306

Why the name Toribia?

Ricardo & Henry's Abuelita Toribia loved and cared for her son even when that was all she had to give. For the Foundation, Toribia is the name for anyone who loves and cares for the children of Bolivia.
